Heh, that's one of the very first issues I read. Computers were so exciting back then.

Nah. I cut back heavily on eating out though. One meal easily costs the same as a couple subscriptions. My last meal out was a BBQ dinner and a beer for $25 (including tip).

No. It's been decades since I read the book but the concept is simple and quickly in understood and doesn't need a book-length treatment. He doesn't give any guidance on how to achieve the flow state which is what I was look

> I see encouraging signs in gadgets like Flic’s programmable smart buttons So a solution is to stick expensive single-purpose buttons everywhere? That feels like a step backwards. Might expectations be too high? Ultimately everything

I often see comments like these but I use Amazon a lot (I live an hour away from town) but have never experienced any issues related to the product (occasionally shipping issues). Maybe only certain product categories have this fakery?

My circa 2000 aluminum bike (Cannondale CAAD 4) is my only reference point. It is definitely harsher than my circa '98 titanium Litespeed or my 2005 steel Surly Pacer.

I got into computers in high school around 1980. I used to read Byte magazine and studied every ad. So exciting! My senior year, after saving and saving my income from my $2.85/hour after school job I bought an Apple ][+ for around $

I have a scandium Eddie Merkz. It's awesome! So stiff and light but not harsh like an aluminum frame.

I've known several active people in their mid-70s. If you're generally healthy and active you should be okay until 70.

When thinking about building a shed recently I noticed the cheapest option was concrete block. Concrete block prices have only gone up a little as opposed to the massive increases for wood.

Maybe inefficient design as in too much unusable space. Long hallways, oddly shaped rooms, excessive number of bathrooms, small bedrooms only large enough for a bed and dresser, unused fireplaces, low windows. But still no place to exerci

I see this comment about not enough young people to take care of the old. Why is this concern so common among, presumably, young people? Of the older people I know or have known, none are/were being taken care of by younger people.

Absolutely. Walking is the cheapest, easiest effective exercise there is. Unfortunately so much of the US is not conducive to safe walking. For example, neighborhoods without sidewalks.

It's easy enough to get free shipping without Prime (just wait until there are enough items in the cart to get free shipping). But I'm still getting value out of Prime streaming so I'm keeping Prime until that changes.

My 83 year old mother is probably negative. She's healthy and happy though she's saddened that most of her friends are dead or sick.

I'm very conscious of this. Every few months I divide the value of my portfolio by a guesstimate of how many months I have left to pace my spending. Currently if I keep my monthly expenses below $5k I should be good.

Do eastern fire roads often feature fast moving creeks? I kid. Are you able to tilt your solar panels? If they are lying flat on your roof, you won't get much power from them. Speaking as someone that has spent the last three summers

I keep a copy of my entire music library on my phone and don't use any music service at all. I have over 13,000 songs across over 1200 albums and 500 artists. I don't need to find any more music; there's plenty of good song

Exercise. I have a bike trainer and a rower. Plus I need stretching space. Add barbells and other equipment and one needs at least 144sq ft. That's bigger than most bedrooms.
