The limitations of a medium drive creativity, and there is an expectation when publishing a video of a certain quality. Not so with gifs, the format lowers the bar for people to be creative overcoming many expectations of quality.

There is a huge cheap build going on next door. It is two stories with 7 bedrooms with no back yard because pool. The contractors I talked to joked it will be knocked down in 20 years because of the low build quality.

I suspect if anyone had thought through this it would be John Carmack. His game design skills can be called into question. His 3D engine skills are second to none[1]. [1] As an individual. I suspect why we haven't see as much from him

Finally! While as others point out this can work out more expensive the improvement is is that it scales as my company scales and doesn't act as a disincentive to developers spinning up new repos.
