This is a highly important dreadful story but what is it doing on Hacker News, let alone the front page?

VERY interested in this as something I would like to do in some form or other. I don't have kids yet and am working on disconnecting my income from the hours I work with passive income (the dream right?). At the very least I would like to w

Apart from a monetary contribution by a single co-founder I don't like to odds of uneven ownerships working well. Too much opportunity for bad feelings to develop on either side of the equation.

It is a shining example of what is wrong with the US patent system for sure (he says haughtily as an Australian) but worst patent ever granted? Doubtful.

I am always slightly astounded by people who are completely cut off from their cultural roots. Likely because I am a white Australian guy with English parents and am envious of those around me with (to me) more interesting and varied cultur

Yeah they have done their first round of companies. A friend did it and it seems they got a fair bit out of it. Only time shall tell if it was truly worth it for them or not. http://www.startmate.com.au/

I find Avoid Comparing to true and false a little pedantic and can someone explain how it is "... bad as it's ambiguous"?

I shifted a couple of months ago to Linode due to the cheaper prices and the good meme they have here on HN. Been very happy with their tools, much better than Slicehost's.

I use TextMate for writing code, and it does most of what I need, but the allure of emacs is strong and I think that one day I will take the time to learn it and harness its power, but for now, I’m a TextMate man, and it treats

I don't know what it is like for an everyday user but as an experienced power user I found Unity slower than the classic interface. I use gnome-do for launching programs, and it runs faster and supports more than Unity does. We aren't the t
