This seems to be a recurring pattern. Should we be worried? What if FAANG just poach all the good talents and put Intel, IBM, Oracle, etc out of business? Is this not anticompetitive?

My concern is not with performance but the seemingly energy consumption advantage. If Arm chips perform just as well (or as we've just seen, better) than x86 chips while sipping much less power, why would anyone want x86 on mobile devi

Qualcomm chips are not that far behind Apple's, and Microsoft has Windows on ARM ready for a while now. Those performance advantage won't be there for long. I think the bigger question is what does this spell for x86-64?

As some other have mentioned, Rosetta uses AOT translation that contrasts with Microsoft's approach of emulation. I think the contrast in approach here is motive, where I get the impression that Microsoft wanted developers to write ARM

I can't believe they're still not giving us an option to toggle this behavior. This is the biggest mistake in macOS.

All of these are of course great but I remember I stopped using it because some JavaScript-heavy sites lagged on it. Also I need tab syncing with my Android phone and adblocking wasn't great on Safari

this is what that boggles my mind. Like are those benchmarks really comparable? I mean Intel and AMD have been doing this far longer than Apple and it seemed as if Apple just came in and bend the laws of physics that Intel and AMD have been

The reason is it takes time to reach those top speeds for each individual file. So if you're dealing with many small files it's difficult to reach and sustain the max speed. If you're working with big files like editing 4k or

I'm sorry I'm not knowledgeable in that area to tell you what it does, but it works regardless of resolution and quality. 4k or 1080p, it doesn't matter. What's also impressive is it can stream your media at a lower qual
