In regards to Akamai and not Cloudfront - Akamai had a different offering than cloudfront. JdotP mentioned in this thread that we used Akamai GTM, it allowed us to do a lot of fun failover management which cloudfront didn't offer. It also a

I built one of these quite awhile ago to help a friend pick his babies name. https://github.com/harperreed/Baby-Chains The names it generates are hilarious. Markov chains are wonderful things. A good markov chain bot will really spice up

I certainly don't think your post was for naught. The flask app is a great way to do it. If i didn't already use git in my workflow, i would prefer this approach.

I use my www as the origin for the static media. I assume that cloudfront files stay in the CDN until they are invalidated. I haven't tested how long they stay. I imagine that if there are no requests, they go away after awhile. You do have

That was a fun hack. When i originally launched it - it proxied all the updates through the users accounts. ;) needless the users were like "wtf." heh. I removed that feature
