I was actually coming to HN to say the exact same thing. I assumed the link to "Cheddar" in the blog post would give me some information -- also assumed that the logo would take me a top page that would have information about the product. W

The problem is that this is the same argument about why we had the "only supports ie6" way back in the day (and ie5.5 before that). While I don't think that webkit will stagnate the way ie did, it's really amusing to see the webdev communit

I feel the same way, and I've been trying to get away from Cake for a while, but the fact that everything except the quirkiness of the ORM is so nice that I stick with it. Also, the next version is supposed to redo the ORM to return actua

I thought a similar thing -- too much heavy BGM and no idea what the balls have to do with the tablet itself. However, as far as giving information about the product, I don't think it was too bad. Features from the video: * Cover is a keybo

I agree that those helped, but when the people around me started using facebook was right around the time "Social Network" came out in Japan. I used to be on Mixi, and I and most people I know have pretty much stopped using it. When they st

The key part of Patrick's comment is "routine business correspondence." Banking (or anything involving city/prefecture laws) are definitely not routine business, and would require the use of an actual seal (銀行印) that is registered with the

It's also very common to put the amount of capital that your company has on the about page. When looking for vendors, a lot of companies will judge your strength by the amount of capital you have listed there, which is why many companies ha

Jason, WP can be a right pain in the ass, can't it? While I have your ear, I have a question about your comments regarding getting feedback: You mention that you ask for feedback in your welcome mail as well as on Twitter and FB, which are

In my experience this is the money quote for selling in Japan: "Japan has a culture based around personal networks and connections. Japanese consumers look for consensus and poll their friends in making a buying decision." When door to door

It was posted to HN a while ago (I think patrick did), but it didn't stay up for long. Thanks for posting it though -- I think it was much more informative than our first podcast, as we're slowing getting the hang of them. Amy Hoy was a gre
