Looks like Bun is moving towards "production readiness" as a focus, and adding a ton of tooling that ends up being inevitable for creating automation-friendly projects. I'm not sure I want all of what normally are externa

The meat of the article: > In my binary field code, I found that an 8-bit precomputation table (in that context, 224 items taking up 128 MB) led to faster computations than a 16-bit precomputation table (232 items taking up 8 GB): while

Interesting because the repo only lists a MIT license, with no mention of those requirements. IANAL but those license terms don't seem to be anywhere in the software repository. https://github.com/basecamp/once-cam

OP should really mention that they made stackerror. I couldn’t shake the feeling that this read like an ad for stackerror… and of course the author is the crate writer. This feels somewhat disingenuous without a disclaimer that you wrote th

On the one hand, I totally get that pre 1.0 is the wild west (somewhat) and should be. The team is right in jealously guarding their ability to make changes. That said, others have pointed out that writing documentation and tests helps impr

This is a good point, but one could make a point for the usefulness of documentation in “thinking like a user” which is a valuable exercise. I do very much prefer moving fast though, so I get it, docs-later is obviously a very valid way of

Yeah, thinking about this attitude positively, maybe it’s a feature — if only hard core people can comfortably figure it out, you get higher quality contributions? Not trying to imply that’s an explicit goal (probably instead just a resourc

I'm not a Zig PM but the first obvious fix for the issues the OP wrote about is to write better documentation, including usage examples (the more the better, almost to a fault). Also doubles as a good time to reflect on whether the use

Agreed, I really like Zig's explicit allocation (and to be fair, lots of people from Rust like it too[0], it's just such an insane lift that who knows when it will stabilize) The new "managed" async strategy (I was previ
