Best Disney villain song IMO is Kaa's "Trust in Me". He's not the main baddy of the Jungle Book, but he is every bit as compelling as Shere Khan.

I was mainly thinking of care when I wrote this, but I think there is generally a trade off between centralisation and increases in efficiency, in some part given by standardisation, and increased fragility as more comes to depend on fewer

The article noted that, when you care for someone, you give of yourself and your attention and you cannot spread this to a significant number of people. If you outsource the activity, then whoever you outsource it to has to pay attention i

The comment comes from reading the article, then wondering how can societies make things scale? We make things scale by delegating our concerns to people who know and care more about specific outcomes, and helping them to make the differen

Care does scale and the human race is evidence of that. It is centralisation that doesn't scale well.

If people are like me, there is a lot of interesting information about Douglas's life and character that they were previously only dimly aware of. And I disagree about the badly written bit, that seems a little much.

I am always very curious of hugely enthusiastic New Labour supporters. Happy to share my own opinion, but what are the achievements you laude them for, and what failures are they to be weighed against?
