Mirrors the previous comment. Makes sense to invest in Workstation and help it sell to the big boys and show that they have "full service" solutions.

I have a legitimate question. How big is "desktop" Linux to RHEL (or Ubuntu, etc.) bottom line? I ran RHEL 7 and 8 workstation when I used to work in engineering / science (not development or comp sci.) and used specialty sim

I think it is awesome that a company is selling Linux laptops AND developing their own OS. On the other hand, I think "oh gosh there goes more fragmentation in Linux UI / desktop world." If System76 has the $ and support to w

Another nail in the American University casket. I worked in academic research for 3 years, and GTFO. I still have a project here and there with a University, but I largely avoid them. While I do, in principle, agree with the tenure system,

I run a small consulting firm, and the only people who do the books are myself and another individual. We the file via WebDAV. I'm not sure how GnuCash would work in a large org.

I use a local cell provider, but get to roam unlimited on ATT & TMobile when I'm out of state. Local cell providers are awesome; amazing service, good service & prices, etc. The only hiccup I've found is international call

I'll get a lot of flack for this, but I'll speak my mind as to what I think Mozilla needs to do going forward.. I think Mozilla needs to have a rock solid mission statement ("Our mission is to keep the web open blah blah no o

Hi! Been running Linux on laptops for years (over a decade). Everything from XPS to Thinkpad and System76. My first recommendation is to check the Linux distro wiki and see what hardware is officially supported. Ubuntu, RHEL / Fedora,

Reading through the change log, it looks like CAL/CARD Dav support is native now! Awesome.

It makes me happy that the Thunderbird project keeps going and is getting funding. Granted, I've tried Thunderbird and have used it in the past, but I can't use it as a daily driver. The lack of integration without plugins for CAL

This is completely true. The left had Obama and the whole 9 yards for two years; nothing done. Trump and the Repubs had the whole nine yards for 2 years as well and got nothing done either (besides the tax overhaul). I'm not sure much

This is one of the best comments I've seen on this website about an economic topic. I agree with you completely; minimum wage is almost a political stunt. Rents will follow the increase, and the gov't gets to collect more payroll

Should USA chip production happen? Probably. But it won't happen without gov't subsidies. US labor is wayy more than some slave in a Foxconn factory trying to commit suicide by jumping off the building (hence the nets). I'm n

I run RHEL 7 desktop, because it's what my vendors support (scientific / engineering desktop applications, simulators). I'm about to get a new Thinkpad, and highly considering running Fedora because packages on it weren'

I did a 360. I was a GNOME 2 fanboy, switched to FUDUNTU because of GNOME 2 support (before MATE / Cinnamon forks), left GNOME because of Unity, etc., had a macintosh, used Xubuntu. 10 years later I'm on vanilla GNOME and I think

I ran elementaryOS for a couple years when I worked in research. I switched off when I bought a intel NUC, and the skylake processor platform wasn't supported yet (not their fault) and had to run the latest kernel and never went back.

Been thinking the same as OP. I run RHEl on desktop, but have an iPhone. The M1 Macbook looks like an attractive "corporate compatibility layer" when a client wants me to use Office365 or some other crap. Also, the slimness and th

I'm not sure what Pop!_OS makes you in all honesty. I do know Arch makes you leet / insufferable, and RHEL does in fact make you old, boring, and corporate.
