I had a PM who pushed us to A/B test _everything_. We hired a new graphic designer who suggested that we change our product links from ALL CAPS to Title Case (a very popular idea on the team, and his first real suggestion after a few w

My favorite example he gave: Buy 52 decks of cards. Put all the 7s of diamonds together in one deck. Let your audience member pick a card. It's the 7 of diamonds.

I love this idea for so many games, but I'll try to stay on topic. From elsewhere in thread, heavily snipped: games like that aren’t fun. It’s been tried. [...] hopping online to go do your second job [...] implies work [...] no on

I don't know if you have anything to do this year, but their follow-up 'Into the Breach' is also amazing.

My cat and I have one firm English phrase: "3...2...1". I say that whenever I want him to make up his mind, and at the end I always close the door, pull the sweater from under him, or whatever. He definitely knows what it means, a

I think it's insane to, for example, work at an office early in your 20s, to put a couple grand in your 401(k). Those 1-2 years, if spent exploring, could mean finding a happier and more thoughtful way to progress through the latter 70

I always check google's ngrams for questions like this, and their corpus shows "home in" being far more common going back as far as 1800. https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=home+in%2C+hon...

FWIW, moving a window to a different workspace is also constant-time (shift+mod+digit). Maybe I'd spend another half second positioning it among the tiles (shift+mod+vim navigation keys), but only if I'm just starting a project

I remember when Obama was roundly mocked for suggesting that people improve gas mileage by checking their tire pressure before road trips. Too easy and effective to be worthwhile, I guess.
