I was away from the crypto space for a while and I decided to try shorting some currencies yesterday using a DEX based on Ethereum. I wanted to create a position with 1000 dollars. The estimated fee for my transaction was 490 dollars. Somet

Looks nice. I've been recently looking for an expressive language to make an experiment combining two approaches to "cloud native" programming: something like Ballerina[0] combined with something like Dapr[1]. For example: wh

It was one of those old DOS games where the gameplay sucked, but it kind of contributed to the difficulty and ambience of the game somehow. Fun times.

In the same vein, if you kill (later in the game) the "omnipresent guard", next time you stole something you would be attacked by him regardless, but now his sprite/skin was that of a zombie :) cool easter egg (or bug!).

I think the biggest success story of a shifting play style is GTA. The first ones were 2.5D games with a very different feel.

Me and my brother, we loved Ultima VI and Ultima VIII. I guess we were an exception :)

I think aidungeon would be very similar to a game if it remembered the past sentences that the player and the AI have input so far. So far, it seems to create a new context from scratch for each and every sentence from the player.

Sounds similar to CouchDB's approach, but I've never used that either.

But what's the endgame of this approach regarding scaling? If I ever need horizontal scaling, am I screwed? Genuinely curious :)

I was just wondering... is there any hope to have minimalist Rust compilers? Something like TinyCC for C[0]? [0] https://tiny.cc/

Add to that recent games like FIFA or NBA that have casino-like mechanics with real money.

I was thinking about Microsoft 365 when I mentioned Microsoft, since its an offering similar to that of Google regarding businesses. And I thought that my assumptions would make it clear that this is not a realistic scenario. Do you disagre

I thought my assumptions would make it very clear that this is not a realistic scenario. I'm just evaluating the idea proposed in the article, not its practicality.

This could be a smart move. Facebook could position themselves as the go-to platform for privacy aware users. They might capture users fleeing Google, Microsoft and Apple because of privacy. I'm assuming that "The Big Shift"

Kind of off topic, but I would love to have NixOps ( https://github.com/NixOS/nixops ) as an abstraction layer for every type of cloud service, and not just virtual machines (e.g. queues, object storages, etc). There is

Can't this attack be made impractical with some heuristic? For example, only accept 0-conf transactions if a given number of nodes have this transaction in their mempool. (I'm thinking of both BTC and BCH)

Thanks for the thoughtful response. According to it, 0-conf transactions are possible in BTC as well. Why isn't more people using this? It seems safe enough, since attacking such a transaction is probably more expensive than the gains

It's not only that. There is also the "replace by fee" stuff that allows BCH to make instant payments with 0 confirmations for small values. This was hinted by Satoshi as well, but was made impossible by the current BTC.
