Off topic but I love his work so much. The universe that On Cinema has spawned is so much fun, not to mention all the previous stuff with Eric. I could watch this clip a thousand times, not yet taken down from YouTube: https://yo

Wow, I couldn't feel more differently about markdown. I'm not a programmer, but I welcome this useful non-proprietary format. I just wish I could get my entire small business to use a Wiki full of markdown files (which present ver

This is basically the problem, as I see it. On one hand, keep the speaker. The potential downside: social media outrage that may escalate and get covered on MSM if it gets big enough. You and your dept / uni get a lot of bad press or i

Those look great! And thanks for introducing me to the Tufte-book style, I’ve always really appreciated The Visual Display of Quantitative Information and this style seems like a good one to shoot for.

Correct, it still only exists as long as someone on the IPFS network wants to keep it up. Similar to bittorrent in that way. Still, in the long-term, it seems that having the actual image/video/audio/other data replicated on

It’s thought that something like 20% of BTC are “lost” (1) (ie, private key is lost). This will certainly happen to NFTs as well since people will inevitably fail to back-up their wallets. 1. https://static1.squarespace.com/

Let’s look beyond the “art” NFTs for a moment and think about how else they can be used. NFTs, in addition to being collectibles, can be used to unlock access to features, like an exclusive chat room or give the holder access to bonus conte

I can definitely sympathize with the author. My answer has been to get away from Spotify altogether. Instead I buy vinyl, tape, or FLAC. And this gives me an opportunity to plug my favorite website for music: https://bandcamp.com

Yes, the “auto-only” base Seiko movement is pretty annoying, if you’re not wearing it everyday. For anyone who hasn’t experienced one, imagine that when you want to wind your watch, you have to turn it dial up in your hand and rotate the wh

Agreed. I’m researching changing my unraid server over to ZFS as soon as possible. Looks very doable although my hope is that the developers support it out-of-the-box sometime soon.
