As much fondness as I have for the pure separation-of-concerns CSS Zen Garden style, I have to admit I've yet to actually see it leveraged on a real project. In 20 years of working on the Web. I'm not sure I've ever seen a si

My guess, without looking at the data, would be that this is one of those things that's true if you don't count FICA (i.e. Social Security + Medicare) as a tax, but false if you do count those as taxes.

Oh wow. Alduin looks nigh-illegible to me. Might be an effect of macOS's auto-color-temp adjusting. On a monitor that's set so it's like staring into the sun (how most other monitors feel, once you're used to that featur

Extensive use of jump-cuts lets you edit single-camera monologues as if they were text. Much easier & cheaper than doing re-shoots, using multiple cameras, et c. I can personally attest that this style was extremely off-putting to us

Every now and then I find a video tutorial for some computer thing very helpful—specifically, the kind where someone does something beginning to end with a screencast—simply because every single damn text tutorial was skipping one or mo

I developed on Android in ~'11 and it was a mess then. Again in ~'17 and it was... also a mess. There seems to be something fundamentally wrong with it that resists change. Plus in some cases Google simply doesn't seem to giv

Ain't seen what dedicated Sovereign Citizens can come up with when they decide to go all mountain-of-paperwork on an agency, have you? Any amount of time spent on those is a waste of time, and they absolutely deserve contempt.

In addition to what other people have mentioned, in my city, nearly all new builds are in decent to good school districts, while most houses over ~25 years old are in declining or already-bad school districts. If you deliberately set out to

I do notice that even the nicer side of middle-class houses use worse finishing materials now. I've got relatives in ones built in the 80s and early 90s (and I lived in such myself, for many years). Solid wood doors, actual wood trim,

If I try, and focus, and am in the right mood, I get some pretty good-sounding symphonies, just kind of happening . Never any other kind of music. Which is weird because I mostly listen to various forms of popular music.
