Huggyface is correct. The pointless mini-review drivel that pops up on these stories belongs somewhere else.

Steam will work on Windows 7 and XP unlike the Windows 8 app store. It also runs on OSX and soon Linux. What exactly is Microsoft supposed to do about it?

The Windows app store will be Windows 8 only on the desktop so Steam can serve the hundreds of millions of users on the older versions. Also, what marketplace comparable to this offering exists for Windows?

They may be concerned about fragmenting their ecosystem since virtually no apps will be "cross-platform" between Android and the desktop without a significant rewrite.

1)Maybe whatever events that led to them doing this didn't exist 2 years ago. 2)That seems like more reason to have an app store as you can weed that kind of stuff out. They will use Steam Greenlight a community driven process to vet apps f

The demise of Loki was informative for a variety of reasons none of which should lead you to conclude "how few Linux users will buy full priced games". The first lesson to gather from Loki was that in order to get people to buy your games,

When I'm in my office, I can hear somebody coming so it is rare that I'm caught completely by surprise. For something like this to work, I'd want at least a 3 second delay and notification before the camera turned on. That might help some.

"The flaw is that no one wants to fix anything because fixing things is boring" I've always thought this was the funniest thing as I relish digging into a piece of open source software that I love to use and fixing little flaws. Just this

Considering FF3 is available for download both on the iOS and the Android app stores I'd say it is extremely unlikely that most of the people who pitched in on kickstarter and actually care about Squenix games think it is exclusive. You're

"well intentioned" That's the problem. I'm not sure how a reasonable person can read the outright venom displayed in comment after comment all over the internet and then with a straight face say that it is somehow well intentioned. I don'

Menu Express was doing this in Nashville 15 years ago and they would pick up practically anything you wanted and deliver it to your door. Drivers had CB radios and everything.

Any phone with a 480x320 screen and free on contract (at least in the US) is low end. The iPhone 4 would be midrange and the 4S would be high but not the highest end.

First of all that's a straw man as obviously all Free software developers don't feel the way he does. Secondly, it occurs to me that maybe people don't use Gnome 3 because, like me, they just don't like it. I don't like the way it looks,

I never knew it was the "Murray Gell-Mann Amnesia effect" but I've been using this exact line of reasoning for many years when discussing the validity of stories read and watched in the media. Interestingly I discovered it as a kid reading

Since it is an open source app, couldn't you just compile it yourself? Or maybe drop a friendly suggestion to the devs to release an x86 binary.

How is that Google's fault though? How many modern mobile devices have completely open drivers including wifi, camera, accelerometer, bluetooth, and GPU? Exactly none. Even the raspberry pi has binary blobs. It doesn't make sense to bla

Is that supposed to be funny? No Jellybean devices have shipped to the general public yet the source has been released. Also, AOSP is not a sub-set of Android, AOSP is Android. Anything else is an add-on including the Google Apps.

I would imagine I'm about as much of a "power user" as anyone else on here and I couldn't care less about either of the things you just mentioned. Making a big deal out of the file copy dialog on a new OS does seem a bit over the top.
