Yes, but obviously they don't work if your signal is already aliased. The most common example would be when decimating a signal, e.g using a digital filter with a cutoff at 22khz before down sampling from 192kHz to 44.1kHz. This is oft

Intermodulation creates both sum and difference frequencies, the latter can certainly fall into the audible spectrum, assuming the ultrasonic frequencies are within the passband of your recording medium. The sum component can also alias bac

Given that cigarettes kill orders of magnitude more people annually than have ever died from nuclear power, I would posit that it is far more dangerous. And the fact that the people who are most likely to smoke are likely to be relying on t

assumong 330m/s for the speed of sound, you can get 1 inch of precision at a sample rate of just under 13kHz. With 3 channels of 12-bit accelerometer data that's ~ 58kBps with no compression which doesn't seem too out there.

An Erlang is a unit of load on a cell tower (or more generally in any telephony circuit). Edit: Not sure if this is what the parent was referring to, but if the tower software was written in Erlang, it's certainly an interesting coinci

The dose rate on contact (assuming someone is handling it) or at the location in which that person would be working is easily measured. Radiation workers have an annual dose limit, and it is trivial to determine how long they can work somew

I don't know that it's possible to have a realtime application running in an interpreter (which makes no realtime guarantees as far as I know) running on top of a soft-at-best-realtime OS.

It is unfortunate. In most cases you can assume until proven otherwise that when someone says "realtime" they mean "really really soft soft-realtime" (sometimes referred to as "flaccidtime") rather than hard- o

The point I was making about turning the guitar up halfway was that you need to design amplifier gain stages so that there is not so much gain that the amplifier hits the rails with a reasonable input signal. E.g. If your preamp stage has a
