The link you point to claims 1.2% of fresh water is surface water, fyi. According to the link, the bulk is in glaciers and icebergs (~69% - nice). 30% is ground water, which is cool and all, but replenishes slowly from what I know. Not to l

I'm on the flip side of this preference. If framework laptops had a touchscreen, I would have waffled on ordering one.

Generalizations and white-washing here I see. The water estimations, and subsequent use, occurred without meaningful thought about sustainability. (But no matter, who needs sustainability when you have economy ;) The southwest states are g

This question is a tangent to your work. Having never used music LMs, and only being cursorily aware of them - how do you keep up with the sota in your field?

I'm no crypto expert here, admittedly. Isn't the point of decentralization to avoid this level of control? It's like the crypto 'investor' response is "Decentralization...that's not so important. What we r

I reason it’s because culturally we don’t include friendship as important when making life decisions (career, living situations, child reading, etc.). We live in increasingly small units.

I too would like to see a source. Making claims without backing them up with evidence is a poor way to defend said claim.

Good story, but wrapping it up at the end like the author did reads like propaganda.

Agreeing with the other comment, that’s a false binary in your logic. Ethics, and morality, are different things and can’t be contained in an either/or statement well.

You had me til Apple. For me Apple is selling the idea that they are the ones to be trusted with privacy, i.e., power. And that's a hard pill for me to swallow.

It’s a good question, and I’m glad that you posted it. I am in a similar situation. For me, I am becoming wearier and wearier of drinking - but having the access to an external and accessible release is appealing. I don’t have advice but I

To me, you’re missing the point of the comment. OP points a group of people’s actions, not their affiliation. Well unless their affiliation forces them to do particular actions.

This doesn’t address the largest consumers of water in the area, as stated above. People consume far less water than business and ag. IMO, golf courses in the southwest is straight up foolish. Start the ax there.

I have an opinion, that sort of conflicts with having an opinion itself - but hear me out. I have growing opinion that Americans (US) more often than not feel a compulsion to have an opinion. A family-member states an opinion or event, we r
