I recently started maintaining a decades old PHP application. I have been selectively placing in unit and functional tests as I go through the massive codebase. Whenever I refactor something I've touched before, I tend to get failing t

Would you be interested in joining a US-based project/consultant "matching" platform? Check out sourcepanel.com and email jwedekind@sourcepanel.com if interested.

Oh hey! I created something similar with Flask and Docker. Except you POST the html content and receive a PDF document back. It uses wkhtmltopdf, so it's pretty fast. https://github.com/halfnibble/pdf_service

Every time I make a negative comment about React, I get a ton of downvotes. So this time, I'd like to applaud the React legal team for this momentous decision. I will now consider using React in future projects. But I'll still loo

Chemistry is definitely cheaper to study at a University if you want the lab experience, which I find very important. (Imagine learning how to code in C without a compiler...) Between chemicals, ventilation hoods, labware, and instruments,

I think I'm going to start buying licenses for my interns and students. It's an investment in our future. Today's interns and students are tomorrow's senior devs. Best to start them off proper.

Swipe gestures, a steel frame, and a higher ppi screen. It sounds like the iPhone may have finally caught up with my BlackBerry Passport SE. Maybe I'll give the iPhoneX a try.

Are downvoters not liking the volcano analogy for the FB license, or the critique of ReactJS?

Thank you SO MUCH!! Speaking of BlackBerry, I now have a functional Starbucks app on my BlackBerry10 phone (and not a laggy Android sideload). You rock.

All of these feel good stories about the Facebook license will immediately become null and void the moment they actually use it. Like an active volcano erupting for the first time in recent history, people will run away and never look back.

There are many, many ways one can accomplish this. And to a great extent, it's becoming more difficult to broaden one's idea exposure on college campuses. For example, I believe I learned more about myself and life in general from

How do we still have issues with counterfeit products in 2017? There should be electronic records with audit trails for every shipment into the US. This ordeal is probably going to bankrupt several small businesses.

It's not about typing. It's about code legibility. With a series of if/elif's you have to mentally evaluate each condition to verify what's happening. If the use case really is switch/case, then a switch/c

Nothing beats Django and the Django Rest Framework. In my opinion, it's easier to code a RESTful API in Django than to configure a 3rd party service.
