Why aren’t insurance companies required to operate like market makers in the equities markets, where they’re free to choose the price they’re offering, but must offer a price in the market they’re in? If the roof needs replacing (in the in

Servers still fail, regardless of how much redundancy you build in. Especially in a home, where kids spill a gallon of fruit juice and don’t think to tell anyone until 2 days later, pets knock things off tables, fires happen, power outages

Part of the challenge of a reference implementation is that HTMX works with every backend. The Hypermedia Systems book [1] has a reference implementation in Flask (Python), but that’s less helpful if you’re in a very different ecosystem. I

Exactly this. The curtain was pulled back and people realized the lies they were being fed by companies. Turns out the business won’t fold if people are remote, and if you’re out sick that immovable deadline gets…moved.

Is running an app on ethereum still over 100x the cost to run it on, say, AWS? I hear CEOs talk about how this will revolutionize the world, but realistically no one needs a cryptographically secure immutable ledger to validate that someone

Some of the best career advice I ever received was to work for, and with, people in the same phase of life that you’re in. The only times I’ve experienced burnout were when I worked with, and for, people who were in different phases in life

The question remains: Does quantity map to speed or consistency? Maybe it depends whether it’s an individual or group effort? For an individual, the feedback loop would seem to have a speed limit, as they’d need to evaluate the prior work
