Then convince people that they shouldn't. Laws aren't written in a vacuum, so clearly other members of your community disagree with you; the right way to approach that is to engage with those who disagree and convince them you

Unlike in your metaphor, though, both Uber and AirBnB were breaking the law at the time they were founded; those laws were not written in response to them, but to prevent things like them from cropping up.

I'm actually not sure, I'll have to try that when I get back to my office. I always have a VM on one monitor and Windows on the other, so I never move things around. I might have to eat my words...

Some of these are valid, but: * My Razer Blade 2015 has no problem driving its hidpi screen and my lodpi monitor, even at the same time * My battery lasts 8 hours with a VM running, which is about as good as any MacBook I've ever had *

Do you own a touch-screen laptop? I have one (a Razer Blade) and I actually love it. I thought it would be a gimmick that I never used, but now when I use my work computer (a Macbook) I find myself poking the screen and being irritated that

I would recommend against OCC; for a time, my full-time job was fighting its total lack of reliability and debuggability. It sets a new bar for impossible-to-understand C++ code (a bar I thought boost had set so high it was impassable) and

This is an awesome idea! I'd love to sign up but I feel uncomfortable giving all my email to a website with no privacy policy, any chance that's coming soon?

This is the path I've just started to take; I'm currently on my first 6mo contract and it's great so far. This post really captures all of my reasons for contracting beautifully, thank you! A question, if you don't mind

How does Uber always make these lists? It's a taxi app. You can hold it up as a well-done business, but you can't call it a technological breakthrough.

This looks amazing! I would love to have access to a tool like this for working on my current programming language project; is the tool available for download somewhere? I don't see anything about the editor in the Ohm repo[0]. Another

What about creating art requires you to publicly claim authorship, though? I agree that artists could refuse to acknowledge creating a work to attempt to somehow screw over its owner, but I don't see what about that is illegal; refusin

gcc 4.9.3 is more than a year old at this point; I would love to use OpenBSD but it's hard to give up the creature comforts of the 5.x branch. Anyone know why, even in a release in which gcc gets upgraded, it gets upgraded to an old ve

Many of the answers in the SO thread[0] linked from TFA agree with you: there are other means of abstraction in Haskell that "fit" with the language better, and they (and I) think those abstractions mostly obviate the need for Tem

It would be interesting to set up some sort of similarity comparison between languages; then, if you introduced the date of release for the various languages, you might get a cool tree of which-languages-influenced-what. Very cool project!

Let's say you're doing something with the result of http.Get, because otherwise it makes no sense. In Go, you'd have something like: resp, err := http.Get(someURL) if err != nil { return nil, err } r

This seems like the inverse of littlebits. On littlebits, the things you assemble are the output of your system. With bloks, the things you assemble are the code itself; this is more like a tactile visual programming system, not a way to ma

In C, there are ways you can get the optimizer to turn if-based error handling into something that only spends one or two instructions; using __builtin_expect[0] can decrease the cost of a condition by letting the branch predictor pick the
