I feel OP's definition needs to be narrowed down a bit. Debating climate change with someone that denies it is not a matter of opinion. Accepting that the sky is blue doesn't mean that I jumped into the other person's frame o

Not sure what the author is talking about. I've been purchasing epub books exclusively since 2014. It's the format that unlocked me to start reading books on devices. Prior to using epub format, I've tried on numerous occasio

Getting used to a new style is like wearing new shoes. It takes a day or two to break in, before it feels natural. Most arguments can be translated to "because I like it this way".

perf-report's slowness is very frustrating. This slowness started around 2017 or so. However, you can get around it by passing --no-inline and the graphs will be exactly the same.

If there is anything ugly here, it's your communication. Aside from the fact that OP's example can run in a non-interactive mode, it makes absolutely no difference to the discussion.

right time and right place is always a major factor. However, we are always in the right time and right place for a breakthrough. But it's unfair to not give credit to those that saw the opportunity, believed in it, and made it happen.

being smart doesn't eliminate the possibility of making mistakes. Are you expecting that a smart human being isn't going to make mistakes? Go through the revision history and see how many bugs got fixed.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with using memset. I don't understand why you would suggest such a ban. If your goal is to scrub a memory region after you're completely done using it then you shouldn't use memset. Compi

memset is not a special case. Compiler designers are very much against special casing, and rightfully so. Compilers do have an intrinsic equivalent but that has nothing to do with whether it gets optimized out or kept. Following SSA rules,
