spdy is better designed and supports compression out of the box. I also don't think that a network protocol should be part of HTML5 standard.

The money is in display ads. It's not about intentions only. You don't buy a can of coke online. But coke definitely want to advertise online and be able to target very specific crowd based on an FB profile.

It's worth explaining why mutable defaults are bad. The problem with mutable defaults is that they are evaluated once only when the function is defined. Each time the function is called you'll be using the same mutable variable that was cre

The cost of products doesn't just come from the raw material used in it. What about R&D cost for example? There's a lot more to establish a product price than simply summing up material cost.

I much prefer share-nothing approach and use sockets + subprocess for communication. It scales nicely.

Why are they measuring requests/sec? Any server can accept connections at a high rate but what matters is responding in a timely manner. I doubt the requests number too. Writing a dummy socket server (evented, threaded, ...) that just retur

I found backbone to be much simpler, and method names have a clearer intention of what they do and follow common conventions. Looking at the following Spine methods, Spine.Model.sub, configure, I cannot even make an educated guess what they

I wrote the docs. :) . It really does provide blocking calls inside a coroutine. The coroutine can totally block on a non-socket resource (CPU calculation, disk IO in case you aren't using aio) without effecting other coroutines. I do agree

Forcing users to relearn an interface without providing any added value makes no sense. I ended up moving to Mail.app (which isn't perfect) because of the hideous in-page scrolling forced on me in the new Gmail interface. Desktop experience

I've been pretty busy in the past month and I never got a chance to go ahead and change the license. But yes I'll be changing it to BSD license this week.

In lthread, a coroutine lib, ( http://github.com/halayli/lthread ) you can make blocking calls inside coroutines. It gives you the lightness of event-driven, the advantages of threads, and the simplicity of sequential statements. And it can

I've seen gevent monkey patching going wrong and it wasn't pretty. :) Not to mention that if you are using a c-extension monkey patching won't help much.

I'd avoid monkey patching, it can confuse the programmer as to which module is being used. In a small program it's not a big deal but in large systems it can become an issue.

You are comparing apples to oranges imo. Backbone is an MVC framework only, YUI is a lot more. Each tries to accomplish something very different.
