I wonder if those were fast enough nostalgia says yes but I bet it was dog slow if we tried today with 2026 lens.

Yeah I don't get it we had terminals on single core machines. In early 2000s I am sure they could handle the UI of Claude (probably IO too).

Is that after costs? Are there much costs? I guess repairs, insurance, rates, taxes, power etc.

Thanks. I am guessing you have to try stuff and build tacit experience. No other way, just get stuck in and try stuff, then try and learn bits from others?

There are other things to consider. Free public transit would make it more desirable to not use cars as much reducing congestion, accidents, pollution, energy usage. The need to build less high traffic roads may be a money saver to offset.

Right maybe we can make them free and safe? Not sure why that is not possible. Walking on the street is free. In many places it is safe too.

Yep I noticed this when starting a reading group at work. High fomo, queue formed. And that was not even an AI one. This is an easy move too. I.e. it is hard to have impact in the technical sphere when everyone is doing that. Organising som

Not because of his net worth (he is probably worth 200bn if it came to liquidating) but because he will pull some trick to get the money. Maybe he will chuck SpaceX under debt, draw a dividend then set up a 1000 year payment plan with the b

That's fine. Like they say when you owe $1m it is your problem but if you owe $100m and can't pay it is the bank's problem.

Yes absolutely. A good analogy would be Gibhli. If you saw a Gibhli styled ad for say your local restaurant would you consider it art. Now rewind, uninvent AI and then would you consider that same ad art?

That is how you do A video but if everyone does this it becomes like those blurred photos that make cities look like a small model and everyone is doing it. I guess this is the issue. Me buying a Toyota and pointing at it is not art, there

I agree I think Vibe coding (even with myraid loops) is more burnouty than using it like an assistant and being closer to the output.

I don't think it is AI, but I bet it has been through editing/review to match a corporate style. LLMs were trained on this.

Sort of - heat pump could be 2x to 3x more efficient. Heat pumps cool outside air down to get some of the energy for heating inside.

How much mortgage equity would I need to do that 27min fine tune demo on local :) Self fine tuning like that though seems like a whole new set of possibilities unlocked.

The attract users bit. In 2026? That is going to be hard. I'd say don't worry about it if that part doesn't happen.

Thanks for sharing. You are doing incredibly well for thesw circumstances - you found a therapist, are attending, on a treatment plan and have good relationships in your life. I think 2026 is a really hard time to be a new software engineer

LLMs can learn but only by copy paste into that tiny context. Actually theoretically they could self fine-tune but it would be very expensive/slow.

Yeah I would love to sit down and see what exactly one of the 20x people us doing. Either I spot the flaw (99%) or there is some utter magic they are doing (1%) which I could try to learn.

Also a human has to explain the code. There is a social contract and producing slop gets you fired. Especially as you produce it much slower than an LLM.

It is the extra $/kwh you pay out of those 3 hours subsidizing the free time that will be the issue. So you need to order a large round during happy hour and make those beers last. Somewhat possible by overcooling or overheating but yo
