I was recently looking for a fast diff gui, one that would: - work well with longer files and long lines (i don't know why many of them are very slow on larger files) - have line wrap option (quite unusual it seems) - have diff ignorin

What is the meaning of the dot in the big O notation there? like O(m.n)? Should it rather be O(m*n)?

For supervised classification this tool is suitable when your dataset is large enough. I performed some tests with binary classification (twitter sentiment) on the corpus with ~7.000 samples and the result is not impressive (~0.77). Vowpal

Thank you! How does it compare to the state of the art methods that used those datasets? Is it better or comparable?

Would anybody explain me what is the takeaway from this approach? When I run the code I see something like: 38/100 = 42.0% - 38.0% accuracy, 90.47619% accuracy of rated data. 90% is nice, but it looks to me like a tradeoff between pre

Same here. ggplot is nice, but whenever I need to do something more complex i suddenly find myself on stackoverflow. Base graph is super easy and usually get things done, even lattice is somehow more intuitive. ggplot when comes to details,

While I would say it is really important to know some basics, such as data.frame, *apply methods, etc. I also admit that as soon as possible I jump to data.table & dplyr when nobody's watching.

The read is overly optimistic, sometimes feels like an advert. But I agree that having some things in the cloud is certainly an advantage.

Thanks! I'm starting to like this package! Update: it still can serve only one request at a time, but looking forward for some progress there...

This is why I prefer less to tail. You can do 'F' to have a constantly updated log, and 'Ctrl-C' to stop updating it when you see something odd and the go back to the live update with 'F' again. All without exi

Yes, R is missing those, but there is some workarounds, like Shiny server (enterprise version) and OpenCPU for instance.

This definitely a great feature! Now, with this in hand can we have for instance a multithreaded (or in some other parallel way) web server or even REST API for R? Talking from the practical perspective, the biggest problem with wide adopti

It has nothing to do with array language, R is vectorized and is slightly more legible than, say clojure, that is not array lang. It has to do with very high density, though.

It's brilliant language, and all, but I don't buy it. Here's why: 1) languages with this high level of abstraction are very nice if your scenario maps perfectly to its usage (e.g. the wikipedia analysis given in the video). E
