Are you excited and jazzed about the customer work? Or do you just prefer to do that now over coding? If you’re excited and genuinely enjoying what you do then you should probably allow yourself to just enjoy your new taste(s) and learn and

Some providers actually have policies that prohibit giving out any pricing information. There are so many reasons why healthcare isn’t close to a free market. Here are a few: 1. All medical residents receive their salaries from Medicare. 2.

Kernel development is actually one of the areas of programming where you do have to implement algorithms.

By that definition the abacus is the first computer. I don’t disagree with you that Turing completeness isn’t a good definition of a computer (especially since the word itself is quite old and has been in use longer than even Babbage’s comp

I’ve been contemplating this for a while, and I just took the jump today. You’re right it’s just as good. Especially since google s-canned inbox, I’m feeling pretty vindictive (switched to paid proton mail as well).

It is telling that Chinese-US relations are at stake when a "private" citizen is arrested for a crime. Beijing was quick to say there was no wrong-doing before formal charges were even made. China wonders why we distrust their bus

Flannel has encryption. It specifically has a documented IPSec mode. I’ve actually run it in production.

I'm the author (CF contributed quite a bit) of the ebpf lib ( https://github.com/newtools/ebpf ) that they are using for this. I would love if anybody would love to team up and create a project that mimics this arch

Honestly, I don’t know, but my guess is that it had some things turned off by default. Actually K8s is the most encouraging project in this regard in that it has opinions about how containers should work so they are slowly adding all the se

At this point there really isn’t any security difference between zones, jails, and hardened containers. That word “hardened” is the key. Zones are a primitive in Illumos, containers are not a primitive in Linux, they are a collection of sec

I have a pair of Bluetooth headphones that can actually go both ways. It has a wired and wireless mode. The wireless mode is great for exercise and chores, but if I forget to charge them I can still use them.

Is it possible that someone smarter than you doesn’t want to work at Facebook? There are plenty of reasons, beyond ideological ones, not to want to work there. I don’t think I have any ideological objections to Facebook, but the product its

I was getting heavily recruited, by Facebook earlier this year (they checked in with me every two months), and I finally decided to send them more than the canned LinkedIn, “I’m not interested”, response. I told them that I didn’t think I w

Yeah. Perhaps feature rich was an overstatement. I meant that when GCP does do a product it works like I’d expect it to work and has the features I need. Not always the case with a AWS, particularly around ELBs and VPCs.

Question to Google employees: Why do you guys suffer global outages? This is your 2nd major global outage in less than 5 years. I’m sorry to say this, but it is the equivalent of going bankrupt from a trust perspective. I need to see some b

What do you mean explains it? CNAMEs can’t point to IPs. This article doesn’t say otherwise. Also this article says you should use “www”.

It all comes down to the fact that we don’t really understand what intelligence is. We know it is an emergent property of several mechanisms, working together, and we are even getting a decent grip on what those mechanisms are and how they
