People I know are sick to death of all the advertisements in everything. The personalized ad economy is the most obvious and personally impacting symptom of this legislative failure.

We can only use technical solutions to this problem for so long. The real issue is that the public wants a right to digital privacy. The state would not like you to have that because they are lazy and want to be able to look at your message

I mean you could always see where a letter was addressed, so knowing who your talking too seems like a reasonable compromise. Sealed sender feels like a get out subpoena feature.

Prolog doesn't look like javascript or python so: 1. web devs are scared of it. 2. not enough training data? I do remember having to wrestle to get prolog to do what I wanted but I haven't written any in ~10 years.

I guess this is fine if you are using the rust standard library, I just don't want to see cargo pulling 500 packages to build this deb parsing code.

Under current kernels (6.17) it seems there is an issue with the webcam driver, https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=220702 . looks like there are still some issues with sleep/webcam at this time, they might be

Any halo strix laptop, I have been using the hp zbook ultra g1a with 128gb of unified memory. Mostly with the 20B parameters models but it can load larger ones. I find local models (gpt oss 20B) are good quick references but if you want to

Parser, implies the input is assumed to be valid, validating is a whole other problem not covered by this library. I don’t know what else you call a library that just extracts data.

I’m not sure language package mangers were a good idea at all. Dependencies were supposed to be painful. If the language needed some functionality built in it was supposed to go into the standard library, I understand that for JS this isn’t

what's old is new again, I loved java in the early 2000's trying to remotely stop a thread Thread.destroy() Thread.stop() Thread.suspend() so much potential for corrupted state.

I view this as the language processing is similar but we’re not talking about thinking, just processing language. I see this as maybe it’s not a statistical parrot, but it’s still only some kind of parrot, Maybe a sleep deprived one.

My take away is that packages were a mistake I have never heard anyone happy to deal with packages or versioning. Dependencies should be expensive to slow the bloat.
