Well, of course. I imagine it's done to see if they can see it reflect off the plane for amusement, not realizing that it could distract pilots and be potentially fatal.

What a knee jerk reaction. I agree that people shouldn't be shining lasers at planes, but ban them outright? I think that really there just needs to more education, and perhaps make people register if they want to buy the powerful lase

Looks pretty sweet. I can't see much use case for it though to be honest. Animation's while reading is distracting, but maybe it could be useful for some interactive tutorial.

Minecraft is a special case, as the amount of voxels in memory and the constant loading and deloading of blocks of the map every few seconds, means that memory management is incredibly important to the game. That's why the C++ version

When we look at Lisp we see archaic user interfaces, legacy keywords such as car, cdr and cons which bear no meaning to us mere mortals. Also no clear consensus on what extensions to use. Why are there so many dialects? Can you not agree on

I'm surprised this surfaced on HN, which is usually crazily in love with all the 'innovative' new web technologies that keep popping up. Some of my favorite quotes from the article: "You see the Node.js philosophy is to

I admire what you're doing, but I can't help but see gaping holes in your card wiki idea. 1. Your examples all seem to suffer from the same problem all of Bret Victors ideas do too; they don't scale. Sure I would like interac

From your link, compare the red RBG bar to the clearly orange bars at the side of the screen. Additionally the 'Analogous Colors' contains an even more obvious orange, and pink, but no sign of red.

Whilst colour can be subjective, in this case it is clearly yellow and a mistake by the OP, because the preceding bar is clearly orange.

I know, I was approaching it from your angle, the current state of ML, and explaining it from that context. You support ML but then refer to humans as 'just apes' in a derogatory fashion. I was just pointing out that in fact these

There is a reason for this: it makes us able to adapt to _any_ environment on earth. We learn everything from our parents/guardians who have learnt all the 'right' ways of doing things. Look around, are we not the dominant sp

Not true. Humans can adapt to many environments by pulling in training from other related environments and applying it to the new data. Some call this generalised learning, but I think it points more to our ability to shape everything we kn

This is about 100 years too early. Seriously why do people think neural networks are the answer to AI? They are proven to be stupid outside of their training data. We have such a long way to go. This fear-mongering is pointless.

Sorry to break it to you, React is not great. Angular neither. They fill a void that they should have never had to patch up, and are flawed because of it. The fact that the 'newest hotness' breaks your GUI each time is an alarming
