> How do you define conscious? 'Feeling' just like you do? I think many modern AI's could be said to experience a different, simple form of consciousness as they process inputs. What an odd comment. So because we performed

At some point we will fully automate the creation process. Meaning robots will be able to build robots. I'm still not seeing the need for consciousness here, this is just more advanced mechanical motions and cleverer math. Just because

Amazing that every sentence you wrote is objectively wrong. I'm bored so lets go through them: 1. Consciousness is just you adapting to the world Since when did adaptation require consciousness? We're not even sure most animals ar

It's not like this viewpoint isn't known, it's just not accepted because it makes no sense. Consciousness really is unexplainable by what we know of the physical world, it's constancy is just odd. When were talking about

I tried to download a game off of it, some 30GBs, it took 2 days and broke at 29GBs, then tried to restart from 0%... never again.

I think we're arguing different things here. I fully agree that from a design perspective, things need to look distinctive (MacOS vs Windows vs Android etc). But implementation wise, the only actual difference is the images used and th

To be honest UI dev tools just plain suck, making everything move more slowly that it needs to. If I'm on the web it's the HTML + CSS clusterfuck, If I'm in C# I'm writing color converters for WPF, if it's Java I ha

This is a good example of changing the layout to suit the technology though. And I see the Amazon store as taking the next step and applying the technology in an even more convenient way. The tech is still relatively new, and it takes a whi

To be honest, a lot more robots could be used if locations were designed for them in the first place. I'm not exactly expecting to see my bartender get replaced by a humanoid robot, as seen in Passengers, anytime soon. Instead I expect

I like Clojure but ended moving away from it to Racket instead. The error messages and debugging story in Clojure just plain suck, and have for a long time now. Error output is just java stacktraces, which for a newcomer make zero sense. I

This won't suprised anyone that uses twitter. In fact I rely on 2-3 bots to retweet my tweets and so get more coverage. They have a place, it's not all bad.

There have been trials of basic income though, so people are thinking about it. Additionally the term 'robot' is very handwavey and could mean anything intelligence wise, so difficult to say what jobs will get replaced and when.

Utterly embarrassing, but not unexpected. News in the US exists in a different reality compared to other countries. If the BBC did this it would be such an utter shock it would probably make the newspapers. But in the US? Business as usual.
