The track pad on the X1 carbon is worse than Apple's, but the keyboard is heavenly.

I use Ubuntu 16.04 on an X1 carbon 4th gen and the battery life is fine, I haven't had to worry about it. Probably 7-8 hours of normal coding, browsing etc?

Actually, I think alpha-go would be more in the "looked cool" category. It was an applied engineering task, not so much a fundamental approach change like adversarial networks. That's not to take away from the monumental natu

Does anyone else feel like if there's enough evidence that a public site is noticing this ship loitering, that intelligence agencies the world over are plenty aware of it already? What are the chances this website has a "scoop&quo

Except it works just fine for RethinkDB because it was designed from the ground up to efficiently send changes from the shards directly to open connections. It's a design tradeoff postgres didn't make and they get other benefits r

I talked with them a while back. It's possible now that they're at Google they've changed their back end to work without mongo or whatever, but at least pre-google, that's my understanding.

One of the big differences that RethinkDB has going for it is that its connections are based on coroutines, so it's really efficient to have thousands of open connections. Postgres uses one process per connection, so it's much har

Personally I'm really glad we didn't go that route. ReQL is an amazing, well thought out language. You could make the same argument about Mongo should have emulated SQL. In practice other factors dominate.

I agree 100%. This means both processes are insecure, though probably it's a matter of degrees, since you at least have the apple approval process filtering out blatant fuckery
