I don't care for occasional config file writing but for stuff like ansible where writing YAML is the main job, I just wish it had chosen s other format but I guess it's too late.

I went from that to INI to TOML and back to that in 10 years. It just makes things run smooth in TypeScript because all the members and types can be statically analyzed giving you errors, auto completion and ability to jump to the definitio

It's called JSON5. Don't bend JSON to confuse parsers. https://json5.org/

No reason to use INI over TOML. INI doesn't even have a standard specification.

There are quite a few comments saying they don't like python even from 10+ year users. Language becomes popular largely through library ecosystem and resources around it, not just how the language looks. I think Google embracing it had

YAML is so bad for human writing. Everytime I write ansible tasks, I get confused with indentation and how to do arrays etc. JSON and YAML is frankly a generation behind compared to TOML or JSON5.

A config file without comments can mean serious annoyance. If JSON was developed more recently on places like GitHub, it would never have ended up like that with that many deficiencies.

It gets annoying when you have to do what seems unnecessary.

That's not how you pick a language. See if the field you're trying to program is well supported and has good libraries and pick that language. Differences in languages themselves, I'm sure you can get used to and is far easie

It's not about hiding. Light was aiming to rule the world, as in completely eliminate any opposing parties, and you can't kill them without revealing part of yourself.

restic isn't just for sftp, it supports bunch of cloud storages. Also, open source but non free license but duplicacy, in my opinion is technically superior to restic.

For images, you'd want to use a more performant 'sharp'. https://github.com/lovell/sharp Benchmark https://sharp.pixelplumbing.com/en/stable/performance/

Depends on which country you're from but to me $199/year is nothing for what JetBrains gives me (If you go for individual license, you start from $89 down to third year and onwards $53). In fact I pay for all products pack and am

Why would you ever want to ignore the error parameter? I really hate when a system tells me "Unknown error occured" or "Either this or that happened" because the software doesn't care to be specific with the errors.

Apple can only stay afloat by exchanging people's faith into money by raising product prices when they have stopped innovating.

> English woks just fine Umm, no. People do not speak English unless it's hotel or airport but you have plenty of signs written in English to support moving around. People will try if you ask simple questions though.

I wouldn't say emacs and vim dominated before VScode. There were plenty of other editors that supported programming and SublimeText has been around for a while.

If you use the same key binding for 15 years, I'm sure anyone would feel comfortable by getting used to it whether if it's really good or not.

Are you talking about ORM? ORM is such a waste of time to learn as you switch to another language at one point, your time spent on ORM is gone and you don't even learn the underlying tech that is SQL. Stick with SQL and you can keep th

I thought Pixelmator's audience was general public and I think it does an excellent job at it. Perhaps Affinity series are targeted for professional and they're also one time purchase of something like $50. Great value.

You now trust a random developer instead of MS not to do anything unwanted. Doesn't sound like it's solving anything.
