How hard is it to create a user for each of the system admins? It seems it's not a good practice to share a single account as it makes it hard to tell who did what.

Using bash never prevented the problem in the first place.

Why can you not modify the editor environment that you use often? Hard to see I need to deal with environments where I can do nothing but keep the default every time I use it. Once you get the speed that is tuned to your liking, the default

If you're convinced your productivity may change by ditching bash, I'm not sure what kind of counterargument the sysadmin will bring.

So, you'd rather use something that is decades old because you can't/don't want to (ask to) install 1 new program on the server and take a weekend to rebuild your config file? You can simply import aliases as is and in s

And how many on the system that you actually touch? How hard is it to (ask to) install a new shell? Obviously if you're distributing your script publicly no one would write that in zsh compatible way.

fish forces you to use braces. (Even without the dollar sign.)

How many people need that portability? Most of the shell scripts are quick work that needs to run on small amount of environments.

I keep seeing this statement but this absolutely does not apply to everybody. How often can you just install fish or use other programming language instead of being forced to use bash? It's sad people keep using the default just becaus

Absolutely agree. As fish site (jokingly) states, it was for the 90's, perhaps it's time we want one for the 20's next.

It's time we need a better shell than bash instead of thinking it's great after bleeding with it for years and gets used to it.

What's painful about Python but not so for others? Writing anything complicated in bash/zsh is painful enough I wouldn't even think about it.

I think it's time people start using something better than bash/zsh that is decades old, like fish or even come up with a more modern shell. Even by looking at these examples, you see it has less verbosity like "then" an

Not sure if you missed the official installation doc for Discourse but it recommends you to install via docker and with it, it's a 10 minute work. Not sure how faster can it be.

Do note that it depends on the subscription model. If they give you a perpetual license when terminating the subscription, it would be good but if they won't let you use it, they just get paid by locking you up with less motivation to

Content subscription depends. I would rather just rent the few that matters and feel I got a better deal than watching 5 average ones missing out the one that looked the most interesting.

My experience with SSHGuard was it treated monitoring events (specifically from monit) as failed attempts and blocked further attempts marking the service as unreachable. I'm sure this can be configured but fail2ban does not block such

Really, this sounds like a bad practice to bind on non privileged port. A user can keep running a program to check if your non privileged port can be bound and if it could, it can start any behaving daemon that could be pretending to be a v

For me, the reason was, why add an extra layer when there isn't much of a reason to do so. All packages are at least tested on npm.

Not sure how exactly Google works but if you just block versioned pages out, won't they just not show up instead of somehow pulling the latest static URL in the same ranked position? Maybe better to specify canonical URL as the latest

Really... One quick google and you realize there's another bundler of the same name. Can the author rename it to save them both for googlability?
