I haven’t read the article but my first question would be “what problem is this accelerator solving?” and if the answer is simply “you can AI without Nvidia”, that’s not good enough, because that’s the pot calling the kettle black. None of

As “humble” as NVIDIA’s CEO appears to be, NVIDIA the company (he’s been running this whole time), made decision after decision with the simple intention of killing off its competition (ATI/AMD). Gameworks is my favorite example- essen

I can’t reply to the post directly (locked?) but my take is that security measures like VPNs and proxies are moot because tech isn’t really the vulnerability- people are. You can have MFA on everything and all databases behind VPNs, but if

It looks like, officially, you need to disable automatic backups to disable local snapshots: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102154 Of course if you make sure your Time Machine disk is always available, you should neve

Other than feeding sensitive documents? I’m not sure. OpenAI has certainly gone out of its way to eliminate the need for local LLMs- they offer fine-tuning of GPT 3.5 and 4, so it’s harder to argue you might get better results from a loca

I max out my 401k each year and would give my left nut to be able to opt out of SS. I know for a fact I will have that money in retirement if I’m allowed to keep it and stash it away, but will the welfare slush fund even exist by 2050- or w

My armchair guess is that depression is more likely, but god damn, to bet it all one way or the other… Surely there’s some economic research to suggest hyperinflation doesn’t happen to the world powers? I’m not an expert in economics but it

Social Security was a great idea in post-depression times. I don’t think it would ever pass today- one, because so many Americans lack empathy(1) and two, because there are better systems that have been proven to work over time in countries

I can find YouTube videos and podcasts all day long talking about the “imminent” housing crash, and while I think these discussions are important and interesting to have, they’re little more than hypotheticals or thought experiments. I’m no

“Debt: the first 5000 years” is an interesting read that addresses your question. In short the author argues that debt- especially government/country level debt- is good for the country issuing the debt and bad/a liability for the

Usually I use DropBear for this. Do you know if one is necessarily better than the other? DropBear I think is what RHEL docs recommend for remote boot disk decryption.

It’s not an O-Ring… you want the O-Ring in there. Some shower heads have a sort of mesh looking object the covers the O-ring or sits just below it.

The “this is a free country” argument is flawed and tired. You must be 21 to legally consume alcohol. You must have a license to drive a car. You can’t drive faster than the speed limit on a road. Meth and cocaine are illegal. Children must

On one hand, it’s inefficient to have more RAM than you’ll ever use. So many people buy MacBooks with the largest RAM capacity and while that worked well in the days of 16GB being the max, I’m not sure 64GB of RAM is going to come in handy

I can see the benefit to not having swap in a server scenario, but to offer a counterpoint- it seems like IT likes to under allocate servers by something like 25%, so if you have a server with 256GB of RAM, by design it should never use mor

Higher GPM shower heads usually cost more, so this certainly passes the “it’s expensive to be poor” test in that those who can’t afford a $75 shower head eventually pay for the difference and possibly then some.
