Not sure if others agree, but I think these "privacy"- centered alternatives to "cloud" need to be open source to be taken seriously. Now that is only my opinion - and I am not in sales. But in my view, you cannot pitc

Another article is posted to HN right now about cloud storage. It seems significant but I guess it is not worthy of the front page: Tencent will apparently be offering up to 10TB of free storage, hosted on servers outside China. https:&#x

This is beautiful. I'm not a Linux fan, but if I can get BSD to run on this, it's instantly more powerful[1] than any "smartphone" I can buy. 1. My definition of "powerful" includes IP forwarding and packet fi

You are right. The proper acronym is ECG. I guess you've never had a polysomnography. There are electrodes placed on the scalp, chest and leg.

A valid point. Perhaps what's compelling here is that Google's core business is not selling books, that they have super-sized legal resources and that they chose to devote siginificant resources to this even when it does not appea

Most difficult part of "personal EEG" going forward seems to be the pasting of the electrodes to the front and back of the scalp and the chest. In hospital, someone else does that for you.
