Glad to see the 1.0.0 release. I'm hoping that it will help reduce resistance when I nudge people toward it. It also good to see progress in the documentation. For a long time its been very hard to dig into anything but the C++ or P

Yes, given increased working from home I'd expect more breaches to come. Especially if companies allow non-corporate machines to connect to their VPNs (or other once internal systems are on the open internet). Putting an admin tool o

Yes, you're most likely right. While physical tokens are relatively cheap, MFA setup can be not the most straightforward outlay. Still a lot simpler given the many SSO companies out there these days. That said, tokens are probably si

It will be interesting to see how the access was gained. I wonder how well this administrative system was protected. Did they have basic controls like: 1) Accessible via corporate VPN only (requiring 2fa) 2) Admin panel protected by 2fa p

Thank you! In building Redis you’ve contributed some wonderful software to the world. In addition, I’ve always found your blogs to be interesting reads. I’ve also learned by the examples you set both from a coding perspective (reading yo

Hard to say since only Amazon knows. As you've mentioned, there are many ways for counterfeits to enter the supply chain. I think the main difference is who shoulders greater risk/impact of a counterfeit. Under normal models, th

Are fake listings a problem? Absolutely. But is it the primary issue? I'm not so sure. It seems like Amazon is doing all sorts of things but not actually addressing the root -- inventory co-mingling + sketchy 3rd party sellers that

For many years Windows did not have a simple built in print to PDF function. Ages ago, FoxIt was a great lightweight PDF reader (vs Adobe Acrobat). Its gotten more and more bloated over the years, but still better then Adobe. I use it on

When I read this the first question that comes to mind is where was Osterloh in green lighting the Pixel 4 if he wasn’t happy with the end result? I’d think the head of hardware would have final say on proposed designs and progress. Either

Ouch. Not knowing how the iOS apps are written, two questions come to mind: 1) Why wasn’t the SDK written to tolerate bad data and fail gracefully? 2) Could clients integrating the SDK be written to tolerate failures like this?

This would be cool. I used to rent darkroom space at times and it’s very costly per hour. I couldn’t justify the price and gave up. Historically I’ve talked to rental darkroom places and the challenges after staff and space costs have bee

I'm glad that film/print has seen a resurgence in recent years. For a while it was hard (expensive) to get decent supplies. This is a nice ad-hoc setup. Darkroom equipment is definitely like a gas; I think my enlarger timer was

That’s a really good point about preparing for industry. So many people don’t get much experience starting from a blank slate. I think for me, the question is how to make it a more obvious gateway. As a child we had things like the sparta

I’ve seen gloves regularly but not masks. No plexiglass dividers either. As the state guidance is now to wear masks when out (with stores free to turn away non masked customers) I hope they let employees use what they want (and supply it).

Sending at scale is the problem. A provider like Mailgun (aka an ESP), is a huge target for abuse. Free and low priced tiers are tricky since they need to draw in customers, but then get heavily abused. tl;dr: Abuse ruins it for everyone.
