I upgraded my 13.04 system this morning and now it is unfortunately unusable. Any time I try to switch users, it consistently brings me to a black screen with a frozen mouse pointer that I cannot get out of, even when hitting Ctrl+Alt+F#. I

Clojure is a small core of a language that can be flexibly extended with libraries in ways that other languages would require built-in support for. See core.async for another example of this.

I quit my job two months ago with close to $10k saved up. It's too early to claim success, though. I think location is really relevant. In Pittsburgh, rent is quite cheap, but I'm sure the situation is different elsewhere in the c

I think Light Table is more innovative, while Nightcode has a more "all-in-one" experience, bundling its own copy of Leiningen along with a few of its plugins for ClojureScript and Android development. Additionally, if it matters

I actually wrote the initial release of Nightcode with Vim. I definitely don't expect many seasoned Vim/Emacs users to switch any time soon. I intended Nightcode to be a great "ready-made" way of getting started with Clo

It is using the Clojure seesaw library, which is a wrapper around Swing. The theme is the Graphite skin from the Insubstantial project.

The video has nothing to do with the "dangers of the internet", whatever that means. Moreover, I don't think anyone cares whether you shelter your kids and/or teens from sex (err, sorry, I meant "wait for the approp

Earlier this year, I was working for a small software company whose products were mainly PHP and Perl programs held together with duct tape. Our manager was doing some spring cleaning by removing old programming books from our shelf, shouti

For what it's worth, I am actively improving Nightcode, an IDE written in Clojure that bundles Leiningen. Last night I released 0.0.6. We have a long way to go before it's stable, but more feedback from users is the best way to ge

By providing a true API-compatible JVM implementation, they did the opposite of "foisting" -- they provided a way for you to run any JVM-compatible language you want. That, after all, is why we can run Clojure, Scala, and what-hav

I just released 0.0.2, so those who are having issues with running and building on 0.0.1 may have better luck this time. It also now correctly uses command instead of control for keyboard shortcuts on OS X. As I said before, it is still a v

Yeah I definitely made Nightcode with newbies in mind. Like I said before, it is half-baked and probably too buggy for normal use right now, but eventually I hope it serves as a good entryway for Clojure and Java programming.

I'm the creator of Nightcode, and I agree, which is why I didn't announce it here. It is pretty half-baked and I was hoping to fix some of the more obvious bugs before promoting it more. That being said, I can't really compla

No, my intention is not to make it as easy as possible for someone to legally use my code. I definitely consider it a matter of principle, and I think it's a shame when programmers choose a permissive license instead, purely out of exp

There are different variations of the idea. Whether or not it is income-based is basically irrelevant. People will still stop working, because the marginal value of employment will plummet.

So you understand my critique, and then proceed to bring up yet more unrelated subjects, referencing individuals at random who have nothing in common with the one we're discussing. I don't think you really understand my critique.
