Your comments belie a pretty strong ignorance of American gun culture. This isn't a numbers game; there is a large portion of the population that would not comply with a confiscation program, and would resist using (you guessed it) fir

I really doubt you will leave, at least for this particular reason. Maybe you'll find a job elsewhere, or find another good reason, but I think you understand intuitively that the chance of being shot, even in the US, is lower than the

In case it helps, my app actually bundles an entire Clojure environment (including the JRE) so you don't need anything else installed: https://sekao.net/lightmod/

As with many things in life, it's a tradeoff, not a replacement :) Specs don't run at compile-time (except for macros), but they are more flexible than static types. Apart from runtime instrumentation, they can be used to validate

Against my better judgement I did a reverse image search and found the post that you found that screenshot from [1]. The post is full of people having exactly the sort of problems you would expect from an automatic software updater, along w

You're showing a pretty serious case of cognitive dissonance here. What previously was a theoretical problem was actualized with a real world example with actual affected users, and you've shifted to an entirely subjective argumen

> No, mobile scrolling wasn't "broken" for them, scrolling via their "timeline" feature was broken. So, mobile scrolling is broken, but not all the time. Is that really the distinction you want to make right now?

This is a really paternalistic attitude. The local presbyterian church down my street can't afford a full-time web developer to update their website every time Google decides to break it. The idea that sacrificing actual functionality

I met Chad when I lived in Pittsburgh and we had great times regularly hacking on Gratipay in a coffee shop. Chad would teach regulars how to code by making them do small pull requests on the project. Even when Patreon swooped up the market

People have tried, and failed, countless times to create thick abstractions over runtimes in order to allow code to easily port across them. They always fail, normally because they become too slow due to the added indirection and lost oppor

I must emphasize that any time we "maintain programs, add features later on, rewrite/refactor parts of the program", we are doing so with a REPL. We don't just use the REPL for one-off scripts.

In my project, the jar file itself is 20MB, and the resulting files generated by javapackager are: 55MB (.exe), 90MB (.dmg), and 67MB (.deb), all of which include the jar file inside them. These are not the total file size after installatio

That is a valid point -- I had to get quite used to git rebase while making the initial gitorials =) If all you need to modify is the commit messages, this tool apparently is a nice option: https://bokub.github.io/git-histor

Everything is a remix ;) Light table certainly was my inspiration for the instaREPL. DrRacket inspired the notion of running code in the same process as the editor. The code completion system comes straight from CIDER. I could go on and on.
