Same in the Netherlands. It's changing, but when I went to "high school" (age of ~12) you could go to a vocational school to become e.g. carpenter, electrician, etc. When you are 16 you are set to get into that profession. Yo

Use Scala or some other statically typed language for building bigger stuff. Python might be nice for the first 3 lines but you will be convinced once you need to do some serious refactoring.
