I just finished going through this book: https://www.amazon.com/C-Concurrency-Action-Practical-Multit... Talks in-depth about the thread library and also other C++11 features that made it possible. Highly recommended.

Once upon a time I was writing an Android app. I wrote a simple Python script to monitor the APK file and copy it to my Dropbox when it changed so that I could easily install and test it on my phone. Uses the Win32 API, so not portable. It&

At my company we use ODB [0] with SQLite in a VERY large commercial application. We've been using it for a couple of years now. Rock-solid. ps.: ODB is GPL v2. We have a commercial license to avoid it. ODB also offers a "free"

I mainly use Visual Studio for C++, and Atom for all other things. I gave VSCode a chance a couple of weeks ago but its code completion was not as smart as on VS (no semantic analysis), so I ended up giving up and going back to my VS + Atom

for what it's worth, the "OK Google" functionality in my Android phone is trained against my voice and does a pretty good job at rejecting my wife's and coworkers commands.

It is odd seeing this definition getting a lot of love here, while job ads for "Junior Developers" ask for a college degree, proficiency and 2+ years experience in Python, JS, HTML, and CSS, and a portfolio of 5 websites plus 1000

As counter-intuitive as this sounds, it's actually the complete opposite. Living downtown and commuting to Sorrento Valley is a pain. My boss does it and he does 6 AM - 8PM to avoid traffic. Meanwhile, my wife goes from Del Mar to Old

That reminds of how Windows asks you to press "ctrl+alt+del" before typing your account password in some situations, because other software cannot intercept ctrl+ald+del so you know the login prompt is legit.

I'm working on a Qt project, and our convention is to have a pure C++ back-end (i.e., STL), but use QObjects everywhere on the Models, Views and Controllers (as per Qt's MVC pattern). That way we can one day re-implement the UI if
