I've been using vim for about ten years now. A few of my favorite things about the editor: it features the best application navigation that I've ever been exposed to (I also use vi-like navigation in readline, Firefox and mutt); it can open

i've written a plugin as well. it's extremely simple: it uses find (or globpath() if you do not like external dependencies) to build a local cache. matching isn't approximate but you get results on partial matches and can browse files in di

I'm not particularly fond of the GTK-themes. It's always hard to accept new and all, but they lack that unique touch of the earlier interface. The web site mockups feel like a mix of apple.com and a cheap hosting solution. Now, I get that t

I was thinking along the same lines (but in a more vim-like sense, naturally). There are a lot of cool projects out there, but not many that affect me to such an extent. Of course it's not the most influential piece of software of the decad

I had the exact same desire about a year ago; I was bored with web development and wanted to learn a new discipline (I never went through with my plans though, so I have no real advice for you). My planned route was to get a formal educatio

I've been using everything from Things and The Hitlist to Remember the Milk and Ta-da list; used GMail to keep track of tasks; written two task list applications for the console; created three web-based (three different approaches) systems.

Yes, I'd totally do that (at-least use my Linux partition) if a) the experience of running Linux on a MacBook was a little smoother (I've just bought a new one and I kind of like Apples hardware) and b) I wasn't dependent on PhotoShop et al
