So you'd rather choose privacy invading ads just because it's technically not a paywall? I'll take microtransactions every time. In fact, I'll argue that the current state of the internet can be directly attributed to co

To the proponents of the "efficient, regulated, centralized financial systems" I want to ask - why can't I pay $0.10 to a random paywalled site to access a single article?

Intentions can be very nebulous. We are not always aware of why we’re doing something and tend to come up with explanations after the fact. These can even change over time. Ultimately we can only guess at what happens in other people’s mind

That's not what I took from that comment, but there's another by the same poster that I can't see so maybe that's what they were suggesting there. Obviously, I'd personally vote against any such plan, but the issue

It’s just a fact - people are bad for biodiversity. I don’t think anyone can argue against it. What that implies is kind of dependent on your values, like you said, but it doesn’t mean we can’t discuss it and need to erase all such comments

We can only speculate, but my guess is some combination of “didn’t feel the need to” and “the code responsible for this is nested 6 layers deep between 3 different frameworks”.

Just tried it again. I have 70GB available. Got on the hotspot, started the download, unplugged the laptop, waited for it to go to sleep, woke it up - same result. I had to accept the EULAs again and it started to download from about 50mb.

A word of caution - using functional programming principles in a language that is not optimized for it can result in awful performance. In JavaScript, whenever you create a closure it’s a heap allocation. If you’re doing that in a tight loo

Not sure I follow. A reasonable framework would stream both the incoming request as well as the response. If the WASM module wants to read the whole thing into memory, it's free to do so, but you could have it process the request piece

Easy, the battery bank is a separate drone ship that can be detached at any time. In fact, you could have booster electric aircraft to help the planes reach cruising altitude and then return to the same airport it left from to do it again.
