This would have been a much more accurate phrasing.

I read After Virtue while in college and suffering something of an existential crisis. That book really challenged me to shift my thinking on purpose and meaning. It holds great value to me on a personal level. Thank you, Professor MacIntyr

Can you provide your prompt? This hasn't matched my experience. You can also try enabling search grounding in the right hand bar. You have to also explicitly tell it in your prompt to use grounding with Google Search, but I've had

Never edit files manually during a session (that'll bust cache). THIS INCLUDES LINT Yesterday I gave up and disabled my format-on-save config within VSCode. It was burning way too many tokens with unnecessary file reads after failed di

To be fair to your parents, I've been an engineer in high-tech for decades and the latest AI advancements feel pretty magical.

It's good to see some actual competition on this price range! A lot of Flash 2.5's edge will depend on how well the dynamic reasoning works. It's also helpful to have _significantly_ lower input token cost for a large context

Funny you should say that. Google just announced today that they are giving all college students one year of free Gemini advanced. I wonder how much that will actually move the needle among the youth.

Yes, the weekend is Saturday and Sunday in the United States. I guess you could consider it like "bookends", for us it's the start and end of the week.

I can replicate your weather one! I think it's taking "this week" extremely literally and the week ends on Saturday. Asking for "this weekend" gives Saturday and Sunday. Asking for the next few days gives 3 days out

> October in Sydney These sound like fairly dated anecdotes. I don't doubt them at all - I had similar horror stories. I disabled Gemini on my phone in order to keep the old assistant for a long time, but it really has gotten a lot

I noticed on mobile (Chrome on Android) when I tried to drag one of the tiles on the left boundary, my browser executed the page back action instead. You should be able to override this behavior with JavaScript by intercepting the default.

Try using the interface via ai.dev instead of gemini.google.com. I upload code files all the time and it works.

I'm pretty sure you can use Google analytics without sending the data to Google Ads? I'm not sure why they would lie about correcting the issue.

This was published the day before Gemini 2.5 was released. I'd be interested if they see any difference with that model. Anecdotally, that is the first model that really made me go wow and made a big difference for my productivity.

I ask this without a hint of sarcasm as someone who hasn't used Facebook in a decade: what is currently displayed on your news feed if not updates from friends?

Shouldn't "downloading and cracking encrypted passwords" be functionally impossible? This third party must have had atrocious practices.

No, the article you linked specifically says this is because of increased quality and fewer new features reducing the rate at which users upgrade. Apple still has roughly 60% of the installed user base in the US.

Gemini naming seems pretty straightforward at this point. 2.0 is the full model, flash is a smaller/faster/cheaper model, and flash thinking is a smaller/faster/cheaper reasoning model with Cost.

If this is the hierarchy, why does 4o score so much higher than o1 on LLM Arena? Worrisome for OpenAI that Gemini's mini/flash reasoning model outscores both o1 and 4o handily.

What do you mean by "barely" respecting robots.txt? Wouldn't that be more binary? Are they respecting some directives and ignoring others?
