Reddit and social media are filled with low wage workers celebrating what they think is the demise of the tech industry. Not to mention ai workers who made it a mission to replace software engineers. Apparently tech workers are overpaid. Pr

Openai's entire business model and product offerings are based on theft. Google's no saint, but the scale and scope are rather different. Furthermore, openai's shills spamming forums to defend the practice is unseen in intens

Didn't Microsoft just render hundreds of milions of devices useless (for Windows) a few months ago, to push for their TPM requirements?

I am sorry what ethics? Openai is built on stolen content and your worry is people using openai’s output is the unethical issue? Whoa.

Both the left and the right in Germany are pro putin. DACH countries have a peculiar relationship with Russia for some reason. Switzerland and Austria being quite favourable despite their “support” for Ukraine. Austria being the worst.

I think their investors should be happy about it. Once more open source models are released, a lot of ai companies will be freed to focus on other things, thus increasing the overall economy.

If your ISP is not reliable then a VPS or dedicated (budget permitted) are good alternatives. Install docker, and an office suite, file manager, pihole, and you’re good to go. Takes minutes. No need for thread rippers either. Mine’s a low s

It will only get worse as they adopt ai. Quite often searching for one term yields results for a different term. Most probably hallucinations. Still better than bard or chatgpt.

Ai search is unrealiable and of low quality. It limits discoverability and reduces exposure to novel content and it is no use to businesses. Sadly google is also experimenting with ai and as such their results are of lower quality, but stil

I dont think open source people are against open source models. Most are against work being used without their licensing respected. If models trained by companies on open source data would be open source that would be a win. But they arent.

Havent heard of OSMAND before - thanks for sharing. Downloaded. Yeah google is likely training an ai at our expense. Not sure why they’d choose that over a deterministic approach that has been working reliably for more than a decade.
