Same here. It’s interesting that they won’t know who never bothered to apply. A more typical company which doesn’t make their salaries public would notice if candidates repeatedly drop out of the hiring pipeline due to inadequate pay. On th

I was using that feature for the last year or so but recently they took away the public IP address. So I think it’s no longer free for common use cases like hosting a website. Correct me if I’m wrong!

Ah, I found it. It's the default(?) theme called "sorin" from zprezto: https://github.com/sorin-ionescu/prezto

My ZSH looks like that, though the arrows are less bold. I don't remember configuring it much, if at all. I think it might be close to the default theme. In my case, the arrows are purely stylistic. They never change color or ordering.

Ex-Amazonian here. Aside: Despite the company's not-so-good reputation in the media and forums, I enjoyed working there. For the most part I had good managers and coworkers. And once you've been there a while, you can transfer to

Thanks for sharing! I've often pondered that effect before but never knew it had a name. In my case I was thinking of AWS versus "newer" competitors like Google Cloud Platform and Azure. AWS has a lot of services and usually

I previously used (and really enjoyed) Rdio, which launched before Spotify came to United States (2010 vs 2011). But Spotify was around before that in Europe.

Google search defines a startup as "a newly established business". Dictionary.com says "a new business venture, or a new commercial or industrial project". Merriam-Webster says "a fledgling business enterprise"

Thanks for sharing that. I lived in Seattle and often walked by the Pronto bikes but didn't know that the helmet situation there was different than elsewhere.

That's a good question. A similar service (Pronto) did not succeed in Seattle, as mentioned in the article. I wonder if the other top cities (DC, NYC, Boston, Chicago) are actually succeeding, or if they are just subsidized by the city

So you could get double your pay by moving from Chicago to San Francisco, or multiply by 6 if you move from Fayetteville to San Francisco. Seems backwards to have such a large incentive to live somewhere more expensive.

When mortgage interest rates are relatively low like now, I would think even wealthy people would want mortgages. By using a mortgage instead of paying cash, it would be possible to buy more property (a fancier home, a vacation home or rent
