In my personal experience your average go developer that likes go, likes it because he doesn't really know anything else. As a result most things written in go are, in my own experience, of lower quality compared to things written in o

It really isn't, no. It joins an awkward syntax with bad API design and terrible safeguards.

And then they were so unproficient that they made a terrible language that has the same amount of safeguards as C (ok a bit more, but not much more).

Our own software that we sell was crashing if you had a locale set in anything else than american english. The coworker who made that happen said I'm a weirdo for setting my machine in my own language. According to him I should have se

We're comparing to go here, not with a language with proper error handling.

I feel like you have no idea on how debian works, but have read an article 25 years ago and are angry about that ever since. The proof is this totally OT comment that doesn't even make any sense :)

It is hype if it works but doesn't provide nearly enough revenue to cover the costs.

Had it been open source, they could have just fixed the software instead

goto was only bad when used to save code and jump indiscriminately. To handle errors is no problem at all.

My letsencrypt cert, despite all my attempts, works fine with browsers but WILL NOT work with wget/curl/python/whatever. Plus setting up letsencrypt isn't really really easy. Last time it was failing because I had disabl

Nah google maps shows/hides things with very obscure logic. Like you can ask to find a restaurant and it won't point you to the closer one but to one that is few km away instead.

Ok that's at least something. But my CI can download and run code from everywhere, so that doesn't mean that I can know what is being uploaded just looking at the git repository alone.

Eh mine too. I got it because I had an essential package or whatever when they started forcing 2FA to people, and I thought twine would require me to authenticate with the key to be authorised to publish. But they didn't touch twine at

Yes I agree. It'd be nice if codeberg got some funding and could be used to upload stuff in the same way github can. Then pypi wouldn't just me a means to the end of keeping people on github rather than going to open platforms.

I think since when they have 2FA PyPI is less secure. Before I could learn my password and type it on twine. If my machine was stolen no upload on pypi was possible. Now it's a token file on my disk so if my machine is stolen, then tok
