No, you can't really blame them. One could make the argument that once providing a service to users you have some responsibility towards them, but I don't think it overrides the case for them to be acquired. I can't help fe

$99 a year (<$10 pcm) for someone else to handle my problems doesn't seem that much if the service for which I'm paying is important to me. Sure, I can self host things, but I've learnt pretty quickly the the extra pain in

2014 MBP (15"). I've never seen machines with the same build quality as Apple, and the trackpad is really excellent - smoother than anything else I've used. Display is also fantastic. I love this machine, although Apple'

I use CrashPlan (as does my family) and I keep an archive encryption key so it's encrypted on my side. I've found this fantastic (for example when my sister's laptop died as we needed to retrieve her dissertation). It's

+1 for the AWS Web Console. Whenever I open it I stare in panic for a few seconds as I try to understand where the one thing I'm looking for is.

Yes, we use Asana and loading it up is just too painful. I wish they'd at least use service workers or something to keep it cached and ready to go.

Some of our customers use a "document control system" called Asite[1]. This is, without a doubt, the worst piece of software I have ever had to use. [1]: http://www.asite.com/

I've been having this discussion both in my own head and with my team for the last couple of weeks and have been thinking about how to implement something like this (but haven't got around to it). Looks great!

I really don't think this is true. Redux is simple, and by using the react bindings, you get perfect encapsulation: components take props which can be from the state (so your component needs no knowledge of the state store) or action c

We run our entire stack on DO - a couple of machines each with a small cluster of containers and a load balancer, plus a VPN server, database servers, rabbitmq server, etc.. I find it a very painless way to do things.

I started reading this, and was a little sceptical by the first paragraph, but when I saw Obama-esque and the Daily Mail references I had to check out their homepage. Definitely a bad source.

I keep trying to go back to Fx, and get held up on a few things (partly due to my own laziness): 1) tab-to-search (you mention already) 2) Chrome is "cleaner" out of the box (I'm sure I can have an omnibox in Fx I just haven&

Presumably you mean in the browser, rather than node.js? When you can compile and use polyfills with babel and webpack, then why not?

Nefarious or not, given the UK police's propensity to attack any and all critics (e.g. the Lawrence family, Baroness Jones), I'd rather have some legislative protection from state overreach.

My feeling is that Apple have basically decided to pursue a "fashionable" path, rather than actually considering design as they used to (and also have abandoned their professional market). (1) getting rid of magsafe is a PITA; (2)

General shared-hosting performance issues (although found loading things from NFSN seemed slower than from other shared hosting providers).

I used to use NFSN for everything, but I found performance to be a bit painful (and also moved away from hosting websites to hosting more complex systems). I would still say that it's a great company with a great product ethos though.
