Just throwing my weight behind my agreement and belief that Google has gone way downhill in the last two years to where if there was a good alternative (and no, DuckDuckGo is not a good alternative), I'd use it in a heartbeat. Google a

Unlike 2008 where people were over-extended and buying up investment properties, this price increase is caused by an overall shortage of housing. The demand is there as are the people willing to pay the prices. I don't think we're

One of my favorite engineering tech interview questions is asking an engineer how they think GPS works. You won't believe how many people start with: "Well, your cell phone sends a signal to the satellite......." Amazing that

How like the US government. Go after the teenager cutting lawns to get his taxes and let the elite pay next to nothing with carried interest. We are owned by corporations and the rich. It's pathetic. And I'm a conservative!

I worked at a big fintech company about to go public in a SPAC worth $4 billion. They were a unicorn when I was there. Literally everything was in a GCP MySQL Database......and they refused to pay for a hot spare. They had backups but nothi

I've been riding Uber since it was black only and done over text messages (pre-app). The prices now are insane comparatively. I got a car instead and it's cheaper to make my payment, garage it, and insure it than take even UberX e

This. I'd feel furious if I was not offered equity (even with a good comp package) at a company that eventually sold for this much after being told equity is not an effective form of compensation because they're never going to sel

I work at a startup born during Covid that has never had an office. Everyone is effective, collaboration is good, and we are getting great traction. No need for an office and the company recognizes that fortunately.

My sense is that there is a drain on experienced engineers at the moment. There are an awful lot of coding camp engineers that can't cut it as managers.

I'm 20+ years into my programming career and still get asked to do a lot of this stuff. My fiance is chief of staff at another startup that does take homes. Some engineers are starting to invoice them for their time. I mean, I hate the

Yep. Just got my new job a few weeks ago and this was what the past few months of my life were like. Interestingly, we recognize there is a massive shortage of senior talent and are adjusting our recruiting strategy accordingly.

Why not just sell default swaps to smaller lenders? That would probably open up that market significantly. The solution you are presenting is overly complex.

KPIs can work well or not. In this case, some VP's KPI about increasing signups and % of tweets viewed by signed in users is making Twitter worse (actually better because I hate Twitter).
