I still love my Thinkpads. Run Linux and code endlessly on them. Gone through a P50, P52, P1G2, P17, and now a P16. Been very happy every time.

Having always had airtags in every checked bag for my wife and I for years now, we'll never go back. Has helped us in numerous situations not to mention peace of mind. Good luck preventing me from putting one in there. We're not g

Oh, that's funny. Can't drill for oil, and wind energy isn't cost effective. What's next? Foot pedaled cars?

I know for me I'd be very demoralized and not stay at a company very long if everything I built kept getting shut down.

Exactly. The IRR in investing more into ad platforms for Google is still higher than any other project so they keep investing in it and increasing their ad revenue. Alongside Meta, they have a duopoly (monopoly?) on that market for now so t

Having worked in startups in SF and now Boston for the last 12 years, I first started making my current salary in 2014 and have never made more than that from one job. So in real figures, salaries have come down quite a bit due to inflation

Thankfully I already work so remote I'm literally on the other side of the country so I can't be called into the office. I've always favored working from home as someone who codes 90%+ of the day. Getting and saying in flow&#

I believe this is the primary reason for pushing people back to work. All those middle managers are shown to be useless idiots, as they usually are, when people work from home. They're trying to save their skins and justify their exist

It's pretty clear they don't care at this point. They were extended by 6 months and no one has brought it up since then. NASA is feeling political heat to just fly this thing at any cost at this point.

I was downvoted a few weeks ago on a "Rah, rah, rah! Artemis!" post here on HN for pointing out the same a few weeks ago. People on here sure are fickle.

You're still not giving me any examples of anything they've done successfully in the last decade while I gave plenty of examples of things they've fucked up.

Exactly. Boeing used to build great stuff until the McDonnel Douglas merger. Now the money people run the show and engineering takes a back seat. Love how no one has tried to refute me. Just downvotes.

My comment on Boeing not doing anything right is based upon: - Multiple failures of Starliner - 737 MAX - 787 - USAF Replacement Tanker Do you have any fact based comments that they are an engineering powerhouse? And don't quote me pro

Word is they will need to bring the rocket back to the VAB to fix the engine issue so we're now looking at an October launch date. (Might need to swap engines)

I don't like seeing mine and everyone else's tax dollars wasted and put into cost-plus contracts to the benefit of a few friendly government contractors.

Personally I hope this expensive boondoggle built by the worst space company of the last decade gives us a huge fireworks show tomorrow and gets promptly cancelled, like it should have been a long time ago.

Indeed. Frighteningly, when I was trained on how to carry a weapon legally, we were taught to shoot to kill. Both because you never know what a live person with a weapon might still be able to do, and, yes, because a dead person cannot sue
