We evolved to run, but not on surfaces as hard as concrete and asphalt. They’re far more brutal on the joints than even hard-packed clay, which would be the extreme in most natural environments.

It doesn’t help that most shoes squeeze most people’s toes when weight is on the ball of the foot, preventing us from using them for their natural purpose in stabilizing our stride. Most of us have toes that make the front of the foot squar

Part time, maybe. Not short term. It takes that much time to get up to speed on a non-trivial existing codebase and process. The value prop for the first couple months is usually just about zero once you take into account existing staff’s t

If that's the case, then the decision to assign it to an intern and give them 3 days, and then not to test it with a diverse set of subjects was somebody's fault and failure. If they were not an intern (or even if they were, frank

You don’t have to update to every new teensy release immediately. But do update dependencies regularly (at least once or twice a year). Once you’re in a hole deeper than a year it takes a LONG time to climb out.

Remember that also the company has a 98%+ chance of failing or exiting without a huge growth in valuation. Unless you’re spectacularly good at picking them, doing this on a repeated basis is not going to give good financial returns. But tha

Oh, wow, you took that in a direction I didn’t expect. I meant that you might benefit from a system to manage scope on the projects you mentioned struggling with scope creep on. But applying that to the development of habits themselves too

Develop habits. They tend to work much better than relying on willpower. Especially when you’re feeling down or less energetic or inspired. As mentioned elsewhere, start with the tiniest, lowest-willpower possible variant of your habit. Onc

Airtable is a barely-glorified spreadsheet with the barest hint of relational capabilities. Access was a full relational database and drag-and-drop UI builder (with generated forms and views as well) that could drop down to SQL in a pinch.
