I don't really have much to complain about. I work remotely, and I've noticed a significant trend upwards in remote pay in messages from recruiters. If someone from another country can get those jobs, they should get the same pay.

Flex time is a common concept in workplaces since antiquity. Day work (you pick up jobs as available) is also a common concept since antiquity. > If some drivers weren’t happy with the status quo, why not take their skills and work for a

If you get your news from Facebook, you aren’t getting good news. This is a win for the world - less manufactured outrage getting pumped into the brains of the people. Maybe news publishers in Australia can go back to quality journalism and

Why don't these employees take their high skills, work for $30k/year for 100/hours per week, take no days off and like it? This guy is hopelessly out of touch. You work to live, not the other way around. As for misaligned inc

I think it's a bad marketing technique. As a developer, I'm asked to evaluate competing technologies all the time and pick one. I can see what your competitors charge. "Contact us for pricing" means you're out of th

This is the case of the cobbler's children having no shoes, I think. If you're focused on your product, updating your website falls to the last priority (except for the marketing team).

There's a saying (of unconfirmed origin), but I'll use Jay-Z's version: 'A wise man told me don't argue with fools. Cause people from a distance can't tell who is who.' I think the NYT piece was, like most

I started switching over to a paid Fastmail account with my own domain several months ago. I still use my gmail account for some sign ins (and my work uses google for email and sso), but if my account was locked tomorrow I’d be ok.

Agree - most job postings I see call for experience with an ever-increasing number of disparate technologies. And full-stack web development necessitates it until you've grown the team to a large size.

"Cash" is usually just 1s and 0s these days, at least in the US, isn't it? It doesn't require mining, unlike bitcoin.

Property might be the wrong word here. I suspect that you do have a contract of sorts with any company with whom you have a free account. The consideration is sharing your data in exchange for the account.

Number one step to leaving google: get your own email service. One that you pay for, from a company whose primary business is email. Then gradually move your important accounts off. This doesn't help much if you have to publish things
