But the values are generally generated pseudo randomly by machine. This seems similar to the birthday problem, where the odds of encountering a value in a given range is higher than you'd expect.

It's also about about techies jumping jobs for more money, not just leaving the industry entirely. It is US-centric and not limited to tech. https://www.recruiter.com/i/no-post-pandemic-the-great-job-e... But I&#x

It took a long time for fungi to evolve to consume wood (bacteria too). It took 60 million years for this evolution to take place. Sounds like plastic might be on a faster track according to this article. Basically wood cells are hard to pe

Evidence of early hominids and other less advanced proto-human or human groups shows a pretty significant amount of calories came from meat. Some suggest 60-80% of calories came from proteins, largely meat, at various times in history. Exam

Last year's Thanksgiving outage and this one are the two biggest. They've been pretty reliable. That's still 99.7% uptime.

I can tell you that some processes are not running, possibly due to SQS or SWF problems. Previous outages of this scale were caused by Kinesis outages. Can't connect via aws login at the cli either since we use SSO and that seems to be

Pretty strange that there's one researcher listed and a dozen "social media / fund raisers". Suggests this isn't serious research and is instead a hype factory for acquiring money.

I can only imagine that the scale of all US SMS messages is absolutely staggering. It probably eclipses all other text formats combined in terms of daily production. Here's a blog post from a few years ago estimating it at 26 billion t

That is a ridiculous cop-out. Dev work is very regimented for many of us; we have a half dozen regular agile meetings, deployment schedules, etc. The process for code getting accepted and deployed is well-established. It's very easy to

Contrary to other responses, you can certainly use OOP programming to solve these problems, and I think that is a better way to do it. You wouldn't write 100 line blocks of dense algorithms in prod code, why do it here? Thinking about
