Only if you enjoy all of the negatives of EVM-like smart contracts including chain splits, gas problems, subtle bugs that could drive exchanges to insolvency, mass theft, broken multisig, the list goes on...

Vitalik's claim is a lie. No "OP_RETURN wars" happened. It's a complete fabrication. See https://twitter.com/notgrubles/status/1187470076833697794

Unused blockchains have no / low transaction fees. >When people started using Bitcoin, fees went up! That's how it is supposed to work.

Yes it is FOSS and multiple different implementations from different development groups / companies are available including c-lightning, LND, and eclair (I'm probably missing one or two). The claim is truly a meme -- one that can

Just to note: the "Bitcoin was hijacked by <corp>" is a running joke at this point and not to be taken seriously. Ask anyone to provide verifiable proof of this and they will respond with hyperbole or conspiracy theory.

This is incredible tinfoil-y nonsense that I find hard to believe is even posted on a website of HN's caliber.

Ethereum just had a consensus failure that caused a loss of money and shut down transfers at one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world (Binance). The minimum deposit for ETH2 is a very small percentage of the total premined (

It's sad that there is an ongoing dilution of the term "censorship" which is really referring to moderatorship of online forums.

Trust minimization instead of maximally trusting RBC with all of your money but also the counterparty to deliver.

The point is the entire point of Bitcoin itself is to minimize or hopefully remove completely the requirement of trust.

Well the point is with Bitcoin you don't have to trust RBC to not freeze and/or abscond with your $1B.

Lightning is live right now too, and has been for two years. The "ISP"-like (???) layer-2 thing you're referring to is just the fact that Lightning is decentralized and also scales, which is probably why the author accurate

The part about Lightning making "higher throughput blockchains irrelevant" is correct though. Blockchains inherently do not scale unless you sacrifice decentralization, and once you've done away with decentralization then you

The other funny thing is the common misconception that Bitcoin does not have smart contracts. Bitcoin transactions are actually pretty programmable. You can have a coin be unspendable until a certain date, or have it require n cosigners to

The point is no one even remotely involved with Blockstream is in a moderator position in r/bitcoin. This is in contrast to r/btc, which is absolutely indisputably run by Bitcoin, com (the business) employees.

This is an outright lie. In fact, r/btc is controlled by for-profit entity (bitcoin, com which has little to nothing to do with Bitcoin the project) and has advertisements blasted all over the subreddit page.

Lightning is not censorable as participants in a payment channel route cannot know the sender nor receiver of a payment. It's similar to tor relays.

Controlling node consensus is the most important "layer". Nodes enforce protocol rules. If most "dapps" are using Infura, then Infura can easily force changes upon not only the dapps themselves but the entire network. Et

Ethereum as a platform has made many bad design decisions. It's not really suitable for a lot of things; including, well, things it was marketed for (unstoppable, uncensorable, scalable applications).

Maker is run on a centralized blockchain. Ethereum is pretty admittedly centralized on the Infura node-as-a-service platform, which in of itself is hosted on AWS. https://www.coindesk.com/the-race-is-on-to-replace-ethereums.
